It has been revealed that there are plans from EMC Data Storage Systems India to train approximately thirty thousand people in the field of cloud backup, data analytics and data science by the end of 2013.

President of EMC India and SAARC, Rajesh Janey, stated that the cloud backup market in India, currently worth $4 billion, is predicted to grow to $4.5 billion over the next two years, with opportunities in big data to reach $300 million also.

Despite this growth, he expressed his concerns over the clear shortage of manpower evident in this area of industry. The new certification courses will be a part of EMC Alliance, which has been put in place by tying up with over two hundred Indian education institutes, along with partners and customers of EMC.

‘Cloud backup and big data is transforming business,’ he explained. ‘However, there is a shortage of people with requisite skills. It is predicted globally that there is a shortage of approximately 190,000 data scientists.’

The newly created Cloud Infrastructure & Services Associate Level Training and Certification offers a vital base of concepts and technical principles to enable IT professionals to reach informed technical and business decisions jointly on movement to cloud backup.

Janey predicts this opportunity could produce as many as 100,000 jobs by 2015.
